How my legs felt after climbing up a mountain

I climbed Mt Ngarahoe ten days ago. It was tough work, one step forwards - two steps back kind of deal. But oh - it was beautiful! The view from that high is breathtaking.

It was part of a three day circuit of the Tongariro National Park. Can't express how much fun I had!
Have you ever had a bad experience tramping? Rainy weather? Wind/hail/hypothermai?

I didn't! I had perfect weather the whole time and am now so keen to do more tramping all over New Zealand. Top of the list is Abel Tasman.

Oh - and my legs feel terrible by the way. Every run I've been on since has been soooo painful!

Bikee

Do you ever feel locked in to one type of exercise? I want to start doing some more things other than running.

Organised and smug about it.

I ran to Uni today! I was extra organised and took a change of clothes/ uni books to uni yesterday so all i had to do this morning was roll out of bed, slip on running gear and run out the door!

It's annoying running beside all the slow-moving traffic. Although I can't say I was upset at having to stop at the pedestrian lights. That was quite nice.

8km and the Ideal

Ran 8km at the gym today, after signing up for another 12 month membership [my bank account cried].

I'm looking forward to a time when I can afford a nice ladies-only gym. AUT is great, but there a lots of boys there. Which is alright.

(But not really...)

Round the Bays

Did I mention I've registered for round the bays race?

Because I did. Yay!

Mr. Bean almost killed me!

LOL I have to tell the story of how I got the giggles on the treadmill. Which - by the way - I do not recommend.

I jumped on the treadmill and ran 7.2km. About the half hour mark I started to get tired, and this was the point where Johnny English in the movie gets drugged and has to do whatever people tell him to. There was something about seeing a grown man put on lipstick and then wave his hands in the air, moving them side to side that was just HILARIOUS.

I couldn't stop giggling and it was quite embarrassing for me and I expect unnerving for everyone around me. They must have been watching the sports channel or the news because if they were seeing what I was seeing we'd be a giggling choir.

Seriously, have you seen that movie? You need to watch it. If you don't laugh, jump on a treadmill and then watch it.

Byebye Bay

It's my last day at home before I head up to Auckland. I am sad to go, home is lovely. This summer has been awesome. I went Kayaking yesterday! Stoked.

But I'm looking forward to seeing my favourite Auckland people and places.

Went for a run in the heat at noon today. It was very warm, I must say. Very warm indeed.

Planning an evening bike to the beach tonight. =)

Pink Polish and Peach Toes

No one can see your toenails when you wear running shoes.

But I know they are looking pretty.

And that's what counts.

Blueberries for Breakfast

Title has no relevance to anything - other than - blueberries for breakfast are awesome!!

Stayed at the lovely Anna's house in Rotorua last night, and this morning was able to go exploring about the place. Ended up getting to run through the Redwoods!!

Running in a forest somehow seems easier. Maybe the abundance of trees make it easier to breathe. Maybe  all the leaves on the path make for much softer landing on the 'ol feet.

Whatever it is - forests are lovely to run in. The change of scenery did me good.

Running for bikes and avocados

Awesome run this morning. (Slash actually left at 12 noon - NOT the best idea. Too hot!)

Was almost finished my run when I spotted my lovely neighbor gardening. She's the best!!
She gave me heaps of avocados to take home (just had avocado on toast for lunch), some cucumbers and kamo kamo. Neighbours are awesome.

But the best part was she said I can borrow her bike whenever I want! I'm now imagining epic days of cycling down to the beach for swims. It's going to happen. Probably. Maybe. Yes. It. Will.

Back to the beginning...

So I've tucked the half marathon programme into a drawer where I keep miscellaneous important things for now.

And I've dug out my 10km programme! Did the first distance today.

Feels good to have the trainers on.

Parachute 2012

Just got back from Parachute yesterday and am gearing up to move up to Auckland in the next ten days.

Stoked to have a holiday before then! Today was a lovely day spent walking and swimming at the Beach with my lovely friend Sarah. She is so much fun.

Now to google search a new running programme to get back into this running thing....

Impossible!?

I went for a 2.5km run this morning to ease my foot back into running again.

Good news is my foot didn't hurt.

Bad news is that I seem to have lost all my fitness I built up! I was puffing like a fat man tying his shoe laces.

Yussss! My blog is working again!

Which is more than I can say for my running. Since Christmas I have had some highs and lows.

High: hmmmmmm...

Lows: injured my foot, had to go see the physiotherapist and had to stop running.

Bummer! I have extended my half marathon mission to the Auckland one in October, and have registered for the build up series Run Auckland as mini motivators from march-july.

I will get there... eventually. Note to self: don't start writing a blog about running and then injure your foot. Advice taken.
